Old Kilmory Church, Cottage in Argyll

Old Kilmory Church

Kilchoan, Ardnamurchan

Rate Band B – Friday Arrival – Sleeps 2/4

This beautifully converted former church boasts superb views to the north of the Small Isles and the Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye.  The building was erected in the 1850s and retains much of the original wood and other features. It was the mission church for the Kilchoan parish until the Church of Scotland sold it to the present owners in the late 1980s. For a special holiday Argyll has unique places like Old Kilmory Church.

The entrance porch of the cottage leads to a spacious utility room with Belfast sink, freezer, washing machine and tumble drier. A door takes you from this into the beautifully appointed, open plan living area with separate dining area and well equipped kitchen. There are high ceilings and deep window seats throughout to let you fully experience the exceptional views around you and a huge wood burning stove to keep you warm when the north wind blows.

The tasteful and unusual mezzanine bedroom has a double bed and looks out over the lounge area. A velux window to the south offers dramatic views to Ben Hiant, the only mountain on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. The bright and airy bathroom includes bath and separate shower and the smaller bedroom has full sized bunk beds. Night storage heaters provide background heating to the wood burner and there is under floor heating in the bathroom and utility room.  To the back of the house is fenced garden with a generous log store. This is probably the prettiest holiday cottage Argyll has to offer and the most memorable accommodation in Argyll.

Old Kilmory Church looks idyllic and very inviting. A wonderful get away from it all in one of the most stunning places in Argyll. Ardnamurchan is so beautiful.
